dist.question

got a 73 f350 camper special 390 auto.i want to get ride of the points and go electrical ing.what do i need to do?also the brake petal is very stiff takes alot of effort to stop ,

was 74 first year for elect. ign., or were there some 73s?

I installed the petronix unit on my '71 f250 several years ago and its worked great. I would recommend it. easy install, cost then was around $65

For sure go with the duraspark and get the adaptor and the large cap. Get a good cap (not black as they are made with carbon black and carbon tracking is bad) with moulded in brass termals. Go with the TFI coil and the wire adaptor, gap plugs at 45 and you can have more useable spark that a hei dist.

A heavy vehicle like that needs a very precise advance curve to avoid engine damaging detonation.
