there is a write up on this. but all you need is a switch an 2 wires. hook one to pcm tc loc under the hood. the other wire to ground. when you flip the switch tc will loc. do NOT use under 1100 rpm.
Robby, pin number 54 on the PCM, purple and yellow (purple w/yellow trace). Ground that wire and voila, locked-up! Put a toggle switch in the ground so you can control it. Like stated, about 11-1200 rpm is all I'd let it come down to before unlocking it.
the dp as far as i know will not do this(mine does not) but it will change the shift points. its just best to add a switch. it works well on the big hills and when your towing
What kind of switch would you use for this, and can you have a lighted switch like a DPDT switch or somthing to not back feed power threw the ground wire?
Is there anyway to disable the TC from locking up all together?
A TC that never locks up is like a slipping clutch in a manny. Poor performance, lower mpg and a whole of heat. That heat will be transferred to the tranny via the always circulating atf. Neither the TC nor the tranny would last long.
Question? looking at Guzzles site on his process for installing TC lock up he shows it to be more involved with a list of parts from Radio shack,is his a different way of install?
his is just hight tech. i used 2 strands of 16 gauge wire one red one black. red to the plp/w-yellow tracer. black to ground and a toggle switch installed next to the 4x4 ****. works the same just no light to tell me when its locked and with the low tech way. when it is turned on the od off light on the shifter wil flash till it resets its self
Iv'e been thinking of doing this to help with braking when towing in the hills. Can this cause any problems with the tranny and long as you stay above 1200rpm's and if you were to forget it was on , it would be like lugging in high gear when you come down under 1200 rpm's
