Maybe a 460? Not sure if the motor mounts are the same between the M block and a 460, somebody will come along and answer, though.

The 351M/400 and 460 use the same motor mounts and have the same bell housing bolt pattern. You can pull the 400 out and drop a 460 right in its place. People have done this for years in the 77-79 Ford pickups so I can not see why you could not in a 1980. The blocks are not the same as another poster said, but the bell housing and motor mounts are the same.
Mounts are definatley not the same on an 80+ truck, the 83+ 460 trucks(no 460 80-82) use a mount with 2 studs, whereas all the other V8's use a single stud. Also, the 460/diesel trucks have a differently shaped crossmember, and the 460 uses an angled oil filter adaptor, which will not clear the other style of engine crossmember.
To stick a 460 in there, you need the factory mounts and towers, or a set of aftermarket conversion ones, 460 flexplate,, and an aftermarket remote oil filter kit. Otherwise, The bellhousing bolts up, starter is the same, etc. If you get the engine from an 83-86 truck, it'll pretty much plug and play outside of what was previously mentioned.
My old engine in it blew up. So its time for a new one and I decided I want the biggest and easiest one possible cuz im puttin 40"s on it and turning it into a bog/trail truck.
Hey... My 460 gets around 12-14 mpg ( allmost all freeway miles, unloadad, with a very, very light foot) and thats better than any of my buddies with small block v8 fords, they all get around <10.
