I just had the truck down to SC for the week, put the 6637. and zoodad mod on before I left, trip was about 2000 miles give or take a few. Truck runs good, but engine seems to surge/vibrate upon acceleration at about 60mph if your poushing the pedal. If you get it up to speed before the hill, it will cruise right up, but if you stomp it on the hill, it surges/vibrates but does slowly pickup, is this a turbo problem, or would a tuner solve this problem? Other than that it runs 2k rpm @70 mph, about a ton of tools, 285*75*16's. Accelerates great from a stop. No problems except that. Thanks for your help!!
Without a tuner on there your turbo shouldn't be surging, unless the bearing is going. You could pull the intake and test it for movement up down and side to side. Your truck shouldn't be losing power due to compressor surge. Sounds like it could be something else. Can you describe the vibration further?
The engine shakes a bit, like its trying to pickup the power, but does very slowly, if I do it slowly it's fine, but If you mash the pedal it like surges/vibrates but only at those speeds going round town its fine. Sorry I am not real familair with these engine yet, used to the old 7.3 idi.
