Also, if you can, get Spies Hecker paint. It has a very long drying window (30 days), so you can do the pieces in some normal lifetime.
ps, I didn't follow that rule, and we are suffering under the workload. see my gallery.. (3 coats of base, 4 coats of candy, 3 coats of clear, 20 min intermediate coat time, plus shoot time). Mine is House of Color. 4 hour window, means next coat MUST be put on within 4 hours else the two coats will not bond to each other. (ie, you can't get tired and decide to finish tomorrow)
sorry.. there is an intercoat clear that can give you UP to 12 hours, but then you have this extra coat of clear in between.. looks different on my paint combo.
Also, we are putting chip guard under the fenders (and painting under the fenders), and on the front part of the cab.. that takes another 20 mins between (3) coats.. sheesh..
We are putting the chip guard UNDER the paint, as it adheres to the not perfectly clean fenders better than the paint does but we need the two to bond to each other, else the paint will flake off.
OK what program do you guys use to color these in? Bob you said Magic Wand. Is that a program I can buy at the store? What about Photoshop? Am kinda new to this part of the computer
The "Magic Wand" is a tool in ProShop Pro. It allows you to select an area by different characteristics. It's hard to explain without being able to show in person. PSP is a pretty good program but most experts us PhotoShop, I haven't used it so I don't know what it's like or how to use it.
The program I was talking about was Gimp. It may only work with linux. But to my mind the best photo programs are like a acetylene torch -- a person with talent can do nearly anything with no apparent effort -- my efforts with both look a lot like slag. Bob sure has the touch.
Bob do you mean Paint Shop Pro? It works well, not quite at the level as Photoshop but for the price, the version I have was less than $100, photohshop is a lot more than that, it's great.

it takes a bit more dryin time is more pricey but if you can i strongly recommend using an epoxy type chipgard it'll stand up to the abuse that yer tires'll toss up @ it wayy better.

Thanks Bobj, for the scetch of the panel, I'll be able to use it for planning my paint scheme. There is alot of interest in what you do so well, thanks again Bob.
Hey Bob, you couldn't have picked a better colour, I was thinking of going similar to that colour with a autumn mist on the lower portion and thinking of braking the two colours with a tribal flame pin strip similar to the No-limit 56 fiberglass pickup. Thanks again I'll have something to work with now.
