If it has a hex shape for a wrench, it will screw in. Plus you will usually see a few threads sticking out. If it's smooth, it presses in. You will pretty much destroy the old one to get it out.

I appreciate the response. I guess I'll have to destroy it or get another pump. I need to turn that fitting up at about a 45degree angle so the hose doesn't bind on the alternator spacer. Thanks:-(
