Remove water pump & timing cover on 302

At the minimum you'll need new water pump & timing cover gaskets. Might as well change crankshaft seal in the cover while you're at it. You should probably get new bolts for the cover & waterpump and be sure to use anti-seize lube on them when you install them. You'll need the front portion of the oil pan gasket (usually comes with the timing cover gasket kit). You'll need to pull the harmoic balancer, too. It also a good time to change the timing chain if the engine has some miles on it. There are some "how to" videos on youtube that may be helpful also.
I have a '92 Mustang 5.0 in my 66. I recently had to install a new timing chain cover due to a leak.

Hey Dashknob, I see you're a "new user" so, welcome to FTE! Bummer on the broken bolt! What year is the 302? Serpentine or V-belts? What year is your truck?

The 302 is early 70's (73 or 74). V-belts in a 66. It has power steering and a GM alt installed. I've had the truck about 2 months. Not sure about the miles on the engine. The PO didn't really know anything about the truck when i bought it. I've already had to fix a lot things that were not correct.

Not sure. There may be some of the bolt still attached to the timing cover because it is just barely leaking a really slow drip. I was able to pull out about 3 to 4" of the bolt. Is the bolt threaded into the timing cover or does it go straight through and thread into the block? There is just a couple of threads left on the bolt. I guess I'll find out the damage when I get the pump and timing cover off.
Thanks
