Yes you can, use some extra additive like power service. I use jp4 on a weekly basis. It does not have the same power as #2 but will work fine.

good lord, you are using jp-4!? where in the world did you get ahold of that? try some jp-5 if you can find it, that stuff is really potent.

the jp-8 will run in the trucks but you will need alot of additive, its no where near as lubed as diesel fuel and you would risk scouring injectors if not lubed properly, it does however clean deposits so beware of clogged fuel filters if you decide to run it

You could try the trick talked about recently in another thread -- 1oz. of 2-cycle oil per gallon. That should bring up the lubricity. Or mix in 2% Bio Diesel if you can get it -- that would also do the trick.

I would not run it. It is extremely dry fuel. I have talked to several vets from Iraq. They had all kinds of problems in thier humvees because of the fuel. If you do run however, do what the other guys suggested and run a good additive.

It runs fine, just mix in some oil- tranny, 2 stroke, engine, just something to add some lube to it. It works fine.

Ya i second that. That mixture would really give it some good added lubricity.

I've never put in an ounce per gallon, but I usually run about 8 oz per 50 gal fill up.

jp-8 has no ill effects on hmmwv's we run it in everything. the only prob's the army had was when it was first put into use and it supercleaned the systems. did the same thing as converting to biodiesel, the fuel cleaned deposits and plugged everything up and then fried injector pumps, once cleaned out they all run fine, liek i said, we run it in everything from hmmwv's to m-1's

Yep... JP-8 is some nice stuff We never had a fuel related issue with our trucks out there.. Some of our rigs were civilian vehicles, equipped with diesel engines that you see on the road today.. We ran JP-8 through those with no problems in the desert.. Other then the AC was always dead LMAO

ah, jet a, gotcha...lol the jp-5 to jp-8 doesnt mean the cetane changed, its the total make-up of the fuel. the military got away from jp-5 because of how expensive it is to get. jp-5 is used basicly by only our navy now.

jp-8 is much more like standard diesel fuel, it is more like a superrefined kerosene. it was introduce to replace jp-4, nasty stuff, very unstable and very very dangerous. just the static from your body rubbing your clothes could set it off
