I'm considering a 99 F250 4x4 supercab 5.4 manual 120000miles for $10500. All service records and is in decent shape! What do you think? Edmonds says about 9500 but in my area trucks go for much more. Thanks, Muncle
$10.5K seems high to me- I just bought a 99 F250 crew cab short box, 4x4, 7.3L Powerstroke, auto trans with 164K miles for $12000 (book was over $16K). I don't think I'd pay over $9K for the truck you are looking at but that's me.
OASIS is an acronym that I can't remember what it stands for, but basically it's Ford's record keeping for service done to a vehicle and is filed by VIN number. The bad thing is it only goes back 10 years, so I think a 99 is the oldest rig you can pull an OASIS for right now.
Must of us use the report to see what kinds of issues the motor/turbo/tranny has been in for. If you see several issues that keep recurring, find a different truck.
Thank you again ya'll. I'll look to get an oasis. This forum is really great. I've been reading it for 8 years now and you guys came through for me for my first question. Muncle (monkey's uncle)
Hey guys, are the OASIS reports free? I've already purchased my truck (should have asked around first, never even heard of an OASIS report), but still would like to have the report.
Stone Matthews- scroll down the page until you come to the forums for the 6.0L powerstrokes. There is a thread right at the top called "Oasis Report Request" or something along those lines- post your VIN and someone will get you a report as soon as they can (no, your truck does not need to be a 6.0L or even a diesel to get an OASIS report).
