Aussie Still needs help
Hi matesI am still having no luck tracking down the year of my F100 but I am leaning towards a 69.
These trucks were imported from USA and converted to right hand drive. The usual places for numbers i.e. chassis rails etc do not exist all I have is the Australian VIN Plate (see new photos in gallery)
. As yet I have had no luck
with decoding these numbers as the codes used currently started in about 1972 and do not correspond to my truck. We are about to start stripping it down completely and hope to find some clues along the way.
You guys have certainly been a help with clues but getting that exact date seems elusive at the moment. But heck I am not giving up hope. Will try to get better Pics up again as soon as I can.
Look forward to your help.

The doors are 1968/72. 1967 doors are one year only and didn't have lock *****.
The grille is 1968/69. The marker lamps on the quarter panel bed sides were first installed in 1968, but the one at the rear of the quarter panel below the taillight isn't what was used in the US. The US version is squarish, not round.
The horn button was the same design from 1964/70, but Ford replaced the early original chrome type with one that is flat argent in colour in 1968 or 1969 to reduce glare.
Sorry about the Pic I will see if I can improve on it and will post as I do.
Richard

More info added to above post...I'm still gazing at the pics.
What's that tag on the valve cover relate to, on the drivers (Australian) side?
The white can partially shown in the engine picture-right is on the fuel pump and has a cartridge fuel filter inside it...it's prolly clogged up. The same filter was used in the US from 1961/72. Motorcraft FG-1.
Not sure about plate on engine will need to look closer when I got my specs on and let you know.
Your dead rite about the filter that was replaced first thing still the motor is VERY sad but still fires up.
will get as much information over this weekend as it is our Easter holiday long weekend (Fri,Sat,Sun,Mon) and we are moving it to my sons shed we just built.
Now the fun part really starts.

The rest of the codes do not translate to what was used in the US or Canada from this time period (the L trans code translates to a Clark 5 speed here in the US, used only in F500 and larger trucks)...but I have other sources for the codes.
WWII cruiser found, read about it yesterday...the HMAS Sydney has been found, after years of searching for it..hopefully that will clear up the mystery from 1941 how she sank. The DKM Kormoran was also found, the Sydney's adversary.
Hope you can find out more as you are doing better than me.
Yeah the Sydney has been found and the surrounding mystery has started to be cleared up but at the same time its opened a bag of worms for our government.

It's hard to believe that there were 300 survivors from the Kormoran, none of the 675 crewmen from the Sydney survived. The Kormoron survivors sailed away in boats...why then couldn't they pick up any Sydney survivors?
Something smells, and it ain't hay!
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I think it will always remain a mystery but with many different reasons for the events of the day to come out the media will have a field day with this one.
Lets hope they dont go poking around to much down there, after all its been the sailors resting place for all these years last thing we want is for it to be disturbed.
Sorry but its my bedtime got an early start tomorrow and I really need my beauty sleep
look forward to chatting with you again soon.Richard
Mind you I wouldnt mind having some of those mighty fine looking trucks I keep seeing in the Gallery.
You guys have such a HUGE choice
Richard
Down here they have quit using the "Caution" Stickers cause it just scared the hell outa the locals.
Now we can just make it look like no ones driving and we are just sitting being taken for a ride when we're in a USA unconverted vehicle and boy its fun catching the looks on some of the faces

Have someone who might be able to get info from Ford Australia direct if not I will just put a match to the whole thing and start a new. (Joking)
