DRIVELINE angles

This weekend Im hoping to drop in my engine/trans...5.0 with c6
My Question lies in the DriveLine angle...My truck had a 390 in it-so I have
the Perchs for a 390...Ford if i cation states that the engine will sit 1 inch higher than stock...STOCK...

My truck is looking at getting a 3inch drop on the front and 1 or so drop shackles in the rear...in my mind if the engine was 1 inch higher.... lowering the front 3 inches puts the engine 1 inch lower. Once I lower the rear an inch or so ...Shouldnt this put everything inline-ish??? Im also figuring on rasing the trans mount 1 inch...??...

If I bought a SBF mounts and did these mods wouldnt it make the engine too low? IF not..anybody got any they want to let loose of!

Ive also considered differnt motor mounts. apperantly there are some that have less rubber.
IM VERY elementary at this so Im hoping that some pros like garbz and others could set me straight!
Thanks in advance for your help.

is your drive shaft 1 piece or 2 if its its a 2 piece i would install the egine and trans set up your suspision and then set up your drivline degree with a degree guage and raise or lower the carrier bearing up or down.if you dont have a dgree guage a good drive shaft shop should. if it one piece maybe someone else has an answer to that one.

If memory serves, a C6 is supposed to run @ 4 - 6 degrees

Use small block perches. a C6 will hit the floor pan on a slick if you raise the tail shaft.

C4 has a way smaller bell and is more forgiving.

Then there are no worries on drive angles as it will remain all factory.

ok. Ive looked around and looked around...ocassionaly I see some on ebay but they are hot ticket items...going for 150 or better. I know if I could find a junker I could get them dirt cheap....but not having good results on that. If any of you have a pair you want to get rid of. you might have a buyer!

I'm still stuck on the ride height verse engine height. You stated that the "engine" will sit 1 inch higher then stock. Are you refering to the difference in weight saved will make the truck stand taller in the front or the engine will be higher in the frame? I'm thinking the reduced weight will raise the front end.

For the engine perches you may want to post a want ad in the classifieds since they cover 61-70 something years. Also you can pick up a magnetic protractor from almost any tool store to stop guessing what your drive angle needs to be. http://www.carcraft.com/howto/91758/index.html

The links posted are to give you any idea how to set the angle and why.

Thanks...This is all guess... and is based off information off another web site...
Yes the engine will make the suspension sit taller...how much i dont know...but If I keep my FE towers in... from the frame it is 1 inch taller. The front will get the DJM dream beams 3 inch lower....so that affects it in some way...the rear end will be lowered some ..and the trans mount is in process of being fabricated...Like I said Ive never really been schooled at driveline drivetrain stuff...I am trying to get a grip on it though. Im at a loss for what will work. I will look into that gauge and learn how to use it properly.

In a nut shell the trans tail and pinion angles should be such that they cancel one another out. trans down 4 degrees, pinion up 4 degrees as an example. Other then that it is pretty straight forward until you get into drag racing with preloading the suspension, instant centers, and traction devises.
