back to which battery to hook up to, i thought i read in the owners manual when taking a jump on a two battery system you should hook to the pass. side, do to it being closer to the starter. am i wrong here.\?
If the dual-battery vehicle is dead, then you should hook up the jumper cables to the battery closest to the starter... the passenger side, in the case of a Ford F250/350.
A little more info..... hook up the cables and let the live vehicle idle and charge the dead vehicle for about 5 minutes (10 is better) before you try to start the dead vehicle. A diesel draws some VERY serious amperage when starting, and it's pretty hard to get that through a set of jumper cables, and especially iffy at the clamps, where you have a relatively small contact area. If the dead vehicle has some charge on its batteries, it takes some of the load off the jumpers.
