Used my spare tire for the 2nd time in its life on my 99 Expy the other day.
Wound it back up, and threw the blown tire in back, and now the stupid thing
is bouind up and won't rewind. Any tricks to these, or should I just get a new
one fromY2K parts for $70?
Had the same thing happen on my Dodge Ram, (I know its a sin to say this on here)I had to pull down on it while my wife uncranked it, I sprayed it down some with PB, and worked it a few times untill smooth!
A number of people of posted the same problem. If putting weight on it does not work, then people have been picking up a used assembly from junkyards. I understand a new one is $50 to $75
Unfortunately I think that you'll be looking for a new one soon. They are not all that expensive. The piece that the cable winds around is plastic and will break easily if there is not tension on the cable while winding it up.
