How's YOUR spare tire?

Does your spare tire have air?

Will it come down? Will it stay up? (Hate to think of a loose tire bounding around on the freeway...)

I was under my van a few days ago. The spare tire winch I thought was rusted up, but I got it to work. Lubricated it and ran it up and down a few times. Knocked off the rust that the spare had trapped above it. Everything works as it should now.

A smart guy would situate the spare so that the valve stem is close to the rear, so checking the air is easier. Guess I'll be back under my van to make this happen soon...

When I scrapped my old van, it received both donut spares, so I have 2 full size spares available. One goes under the van, the other sits in the garage.

My old van had the winch seize up. Much fun and excitement crawling under it alongside the freeway trying to cut the cable to get the donut out. The spare lived inside for the rest of the van's life.

here Aero owners fit LPG tank on spare place and put small spare under rear sofa.

LPG is twice cheaper. In Ukraine there are many LPG pumps and it is not a problem to use alternative fuel

Great heads-up Mike. Thank you.

My 20 year son old just left for a 1800+ mile summer work trip and I had him lower, inspect and raise the donut on our '95 before he drove off in it. When he returns, a full size jy spare will replace the donut that has spent the last 18 years previously untouched.
