Spare Tire
Hey, has anyone come up with other places to put the spare tire? It takes up a ton of cargo room in the back there and I would love to put it somewhere else. Out back, under, over? Any ideas? Thanks.

there have been other posts on this subject and some have recommended getting a newer assembly that can attach under your truck and lower it with a crank. Best bet is to study your vehicle's undercarriage, go to a junk yard and pull a complete spare unit.

It won't fit anywhere under the truck. That 44 gallon tank takes up the space.
I once made a carrier for it to fit on the top of my truck. I used it that way for a long vacation we took. It worked well but my wife though it looked stupid. I agreed and removed it when we got home.
Second best bet would be a Bonarue II carrier ( www.sparetirecarier.com ). Be prepared to part with large sums of money.
Third would be to fab up your own carrier that can be installed in the hitch.
And fourth would be to leave it at home and use Ride-On tire sealant to seal against most punctures to the tread area. And carry the spare when you are gonna be really far from home.

IEH, I used the stock big cross bars and the little ones. I cannot remember exactly how I did it but I was able to use the existing spare tire holder in the truck to hold it in place up there. I had to drill some holes to mount that to the rails. It was about 5 years ago and I can't even remember what I had for supper on Monday!
I do remember it being very solid up to 90mph. Didn't go over 90.

hey, i dunno, I though you might miss actually having seasons or something.
haha now I sound stupid for asking silly questions.... I'm thunk out for today though lol. I just got done talking to my college counselor, and my senior year of highschool is gonna be hell... :/ I'll say though, this board is an amazing way to chillax after a crazy day at school (or work haha)
