Hi Everyone,
Hope you didn't get sick on the green beer!! I have an '03 F-250 SD 7.3, and it came from the dealer (used) with LT285/65R16 tires. The sticker on door jamb calls for LT265 series tires. How much of a difference is there? Is this going to throw off my hand calculated mileage by more than 0.5 mpg? Where might I look for information on tire size/circumference info?
Thank you in advance!!
PaulJ- a 265/75/16 is roughly 31" around, a 285/75/16 is about 33". It will throw your speedo off just a tad- at an indicated 67 or so I'm actually going 70 with the 285's. If you have the on-board mileage read-out, it will probably be off too unless you get the speedo re-calibrated.
So, the tires you have are smaller than stock by 3-4%, so your speedo will read HIGH by that much, when your speedo says 65 you're actually doing about 63.
