I've got to replace a power steering hose on my 69 pickup. Do I have to bleed it after I replace the hose, or will it work the air out by itself? Also the part number on the steering box is c6ar 3580-a is this original? I ask because nothing else on the truck is. Thanks alot, Mike
no i don't think that would be the original i think most of the original parts for that year are obsolete, i'm not sure if you would have to bleed it after installing but it wouldn't hurt to.

That's not a part number, it's a Ford ID engineering number.
And...it's only the ID number for that exact part. ID # C6AR-3580-A > > Ford part number C5AZ-3580-F .. Sector Shaft Housing Cover. It's not the ID number for the gearbox.
You have Ford-Saginaw power steering in your 1969.
That's fortunate, because some 1969's (and all 1966/68's) have the crappy Bendix system. The Bendix system uses a different sector shaft housing cover, than the Ford-Saginaw type uses.
There are three different types of P/S hoses, because they are engine specific.
Thanks to all you guys I got it fixed, just came in the house. I turned the wheel slowly lock to lock like blue said till the fluid quit going down. I'll keep an eye on it for a while though. Thanks for the ID on the steering box numberdummy. This truck has a 460 in it and all sorts of things that weren't available in 69 so sometimes I have a hard time getting parts because I don't know what year the part I wnat is from.
Thanks again, Mike

The seals kits for the gearbox are the same from 1969 thru (at least) 1996 on F100/350's, and are easily found because the 1965/1991 Galaxie/LTD/Crown Vic and other cars used the same ones.
