Power valve on carb

Power valve on carb
Does anyone know how or why the power valve on my holley 2 barrel keeps blowing? So far I'm on the second or third one and I've had the truck for over a year. Is it something on the carb or just a couple defective valves or something else?

if your engine back fires or just spits back after turning off
it will blow
I have seen blow out preventers advertised
not sure where but I would start at jegs
also you may need to change to a differant rate on the power valve

I vote on the backfire as the problem. Any good parts house will have the kit, it comes with a drill bit and the little check valve to install in one of the vacuum ports on the bottom of the carb.

Rather than just covering up the symptoms of the problem, you could more than likely fix it for free or cheap. If it backfires when you WOT it, I would look towards your base timing, and the setup of the accelerator pump. If either of these aren't adjusted right, it will cause a backfire, and lack of power, or hard starting in the case of the timing.
