Help removeing steering column to replace shift lever
Hello,
I have the screws taken off the cover. But I am not sure how to take the cover off so that I can get to where the overdrive shift lever is bolted onto. The key ignition is preventing me from removing the top cover. Is that the part which I will need to remove?
Just need to replace the overdrive shift lever. The overdrive currently doesn't work and only comes on/off when it wants.
thats awesome. where did you get that pdf file from. There are a couple other things I would like to check out. When I get home I will try to attempt this. thanks again
Cool. One quick question. After reviewing the file. I saw at the very end that i would need to replace the "gearshift lever pin". Is this something I could purchase at any auto store, or will I have to go to the dealer.
i read that part after i already had it all apart..lol..i just used the old one..hasnt been a problem yet...i would think napa or some one could get one...
You don't need to remove too much just to replace the lever. Pull the ignition by inserting your key. There is a ball bearing under the bottom of the ignition. Push up with a small screwdriver while turning you key forward. This will release the ign. Take the plastic cover off. pull the rubber boot off and push the pin out. Unplug the OD and reverse proceedure. Should take about 10 minutes.
