I could be wrong on that, so please wait for other opinions.
Wouldn't the C2 be the AXLE code listed on the Certification Label?
I'm no braintrust on these newer trucks, but that letter/number combo was what Ford used for many years as an axle code on Certification Labels and Warranty Plates.
ARTICLES/SPECS top of this page has an axle decoder.
What Ford rear axle tags looked like on rear ends from circa 1968 and later was this if LS was present: 4L10. Without LS: 4.10
I couldn't remember what the little door sticker was called, it's the Certification Label that I don't have. All I have are the numbers off the metal tag that is attached to one of the bolts on the differential cover.
I've read the ARTICLES/SPECS page, but it only decodes axle codes that came off the Cert Label. Now that redford points it out, I do see a C2 in my number, but that is followed by a 0.
Anyway, thanks a ton for the replies guys. Anyone else wanna weigh in and help me out?
Jack up the back axle, getting both rear wheels off of the ground. Put truck in neutral (remember to block the front wheels and please use jack stands).
First rotate either rear wheel clockwise. Watch what the opposite rear wheel does. If it turns the same direction, you have limited slip. If it turns the opposite direction, you have an open rear diiferential OR a worn out limited slip rear end.
OK, now put a chalk line on the driveshaft, visible from the rear tire where you're at. Rotate the rear tire slowly, counting how many times the driveshaft rotates.
3 3/4 turns means you have a 3.73 differential. 4 turns and a bit more means you have 4.10s. 4 1/4 turns means you have a 4.30.....you get the idea.
