1989 F250 with 25 code axle (4.10 gears according to door code)
I'm getting ready for new tires. I currently have a well used set of LT285/75R16 on the truck. The door sticker said it had LT235/R16 when it left the factory. 235 seems a bit small for the truck, since it has a bit of a factory lift to it
Knowing that most of the driving is on hard pavement, and I do some highway driving, would it be fine to stick with the 285, or should I drop down a bit to 265?
Remember that going from factory 235 to 285 is just going with a wider tire, not taller. If you're driving on hard pavement and highway most of the time then you'll probably get better mileage with the narrower 265 or factory 235. I'd just see what tires were on sale and go with that.
