Yes.
I don't think a 5" downpipe would fit in there without beating on the firewall.

4" downpipe is more than most people will ever need anyway.....as is the 5" exhaust.

Did you get one with or without a muffler? I took mine off. It sounds much better without it. You can hear the whine of the turbo better.

When you get the DP make sure you get the 140 Extreme and roll smoke on his $47K beemer. Then ask him if his does tricks....

$47K is actually very cheap for a new, nice beemer. When i was in the position to buy a vehicle, it was either a 6 speed 540i or a truck. Glad i got a truck.

When I went to my 4" I considered the 5", but with the 4" down pipe you truly really only have a 4" exhaust system anyway. If the 5" really sounds different I have never been able to hear the difference. But I do admit to being at least half deaf anyway.

can this kit (or any other exhaust system) be installed by yourself or is there a lot of welding and fabrication involved?/

No welding, but it sure is nice to have a pal to help fasten the downpipe. Just get a sawzall, put the old in the dumpster and bolt it together.

Thanks for the info but I have one more question, What is going to be the difference between a 4" and 5" system? Also, will I see improved mpg with either?

Thanks.

The only difference from the 4 to the 5 is the sound. 5" will be a bit more noisy. (this being from what i hear around here and youtube) as far as performance there are alot of claims ("14 HP and 20 TQ") or stuff like that. I dont expect any gain at all. The MAIN and ONLY reason im getting a system is to keep EGT's low. (exhaust gas temps) this will keep your turbo from burning up when towing large loads or going WOT with the 120 race tune. Or smokin a beamer.

Anyone know as far as mileage? I dont expect anything more the 1/2 to 1 MPG more. IF THaT
