Instead of starting a new thread I searched for the thread I started a while back...But anyways Im back on the kick of new tires, But everyone says I cant run any wider tires...What size tire would you all recommend with stock lift f250 of mine? What size tire and rim should I buy? I dont want something to xtreme just a little wider. Sorry for the dumb sounding questions but Im not tire smart.
I'm not to hip on tire size meanings either. I use online tire size calculators all the time when I am looking at changing sizes. It will give the tire dimensions in inches which is easier for me to understand and compare. Calculate the size you have, then adjust the numbers to calculate the size you want. Here is one for you to try.
What size do you want to run? I am running a 285/70R17 which is about 33" tall. It fits just fine with no lift.
I wouldn't mind running the size your running. Im having troubles finding a good set of rims I like that are a little cheap, not looking for nothing fancy because the truck will be out in the fields...
I have seen 2 or 3 kinds of 17" wheels for $100 each brand new which is about all I am willing to pay per wheel. The tires will kill you though. My Toyo's, load range "E" cost just under $1000. I was just lucky my wheels were free since my sister gave them to me. Keep your eyes on craigslist too, some pretty cool stuff shows up once in awhile.
Just a reminder for him(rmalottwtes30) to be careful with the load range of the tire. I am not too familiar with the 17" tires, but do know the 16" sizes come in styles with lots of plys to handle the weight rating of your truck. He has a f250, so he needs tires rated for a f250 if he is going to use it as a truck.
im runnnig 35x12.50 bfg mud terrains on 15x8 eagle alloys and i think they are on of the better on off road tires out there not bad on the road and still have plenty of grip for the trials
So two sidewalls + one wheel height = diameter.
7.863 + 7.863 + 16 = 31.726" tall tire
Something else to watch on aftermarket wheels on trucks is the strength of the wheel.
I have looked at several aftermarket wheels for 8 lug trucks that have load ratings under 2000 pounds each.
So 4 of them would hold my empty truck.
