What is the widest, and tallest tire I can run, right now my tires are 235/85/r16. I am keeping the same rims and was wondering if I could run a wider tire. Thanks
how do those terra grapplers handle the mud and snow? they look pretty good to me but ive never driven a pair of them? i have goodyear wrangler at/s on right now and im not very happy with them so im lookin for some new ones
Well they're definately not for mud bogging but moderate stuff they'll do fine or if you have a lil speed (trac-lock helps too). I can't say about snow as we haven't had any here in a few years and it's never more than a couple inches. They drive fine, no road noise or anything like that. Although after I bought mine, I found out that they have a load range D and E in the particular size I have. I got the D load range which probably rides better.
If you keep the same rims, then you can't go very wide. I had a f150, so it's a little different than your larger truck, but with the stock rims on it, I ran 31x10.5 tires, and they fit ok, but in a tight turn in the parking lot, they rubbed the radius arms(you do not have radius arms but you do have leaf springs in the same spot.
I ran the same exact tire on a aftermarket 8 inch wide chrome rim, and they did not rub in a tight turn. The aftermarket rims set the tires farther out, which gives you more clearance.
A guy I know at work has a 89 f250 diesel, and he's running 33x12.5 tires on his truck with no lift. But, he has aftermarket 10" aluminum rims, so that makes a lot of difference on his too.
Anyone know what my tire actually measure by looking at the 236/85/r16? or do I need to actually go out and measure?
Yes there the stock rims. So im guessing the stock size tire is about all I can run? Im not looking at taller tires now I guess maybe just a little wider.

Rims come in different offsets, and if you get the wrong offset, they will actually make the problem worse.
