Fuel Filter Question
Hello all. My 79 f-250 with a 351m has the edelbrock performer intake and carb on it. I have always had a very quick starting motor. Also, I have always been able to see the filter with fuel in it.(It's a fram clear filter) Recently when I start the truck, I have noticed that the fuel has drained? from the filter. I need to crank it a bit for it to fire. No trace of leaks and no smell of gas. It seems that this gas is going somewhere. At 9 miles to the gallon, I hate to think I'm wasting gas. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the info fmc400. The oil does have a bit of gas smell to it. I put a new fuel pump in less than a year ago, but it was from one of those questionable retail outlets. I should have gone to NAPA I guess. Sounds like an oil change and new fuel pump are in order. Thanks again for the help.
