Help with fpr

I bought a gauge to check my fuel pressure to day, I hooked every thing up, and the gauge was bouncing between 50-65 even after purging the line, when I started looking at the gauge it said for gas engines only, but I would think that this is to avoid cross contamination of fuel. What do you guys think shim or not to shim??????
