Well at last I installed the 3 Isspro gauges in a dash mount, they look very well. I had a test drive (no towing) and the readings were:
Trans temp: 150
Pyro 800-900 (driving) and 290 idle.
Turbo boost 0-15 psi when the turbo runs and goes to 0 in normal driving.
Is that normal?
What is the safe pyro reading to off the engine? (300?).
What do you think about the trans temp?
In other topic I meassured the fuel pressure and I got 60psi, do I need or should do the FPR shim?
The Boost is normal. Mine goes to zero when i put the cruise on at 55 mph, untill i need to go up a hill or something then it gets around 3 pounds, then back down to zero. I dont know about the temp that the Pyro should be at when you turn off the motor, i never really payed attention to that. Also the trans temp, To me its high. I drive a 02 and it barley gets above 100. My friend broke down so i had to pull him to the gas station and the highest i got the whole time was around 115-120 doing 50 mph. Also Overdrive off. Other than that.... We need pics!
Your observations seem to be about right. I have a cooler so my trans temps are about 80 over ambient temps. I have never seen over 180 no matter what I was doing.
As to the turbo cool down question, if you bail off the interstate into a rest area you might need to wait a minute to shut down. If you do any low speed surface driving prior to shut down that usually cools things off to where you can shut down. 300 has always been my rule of thumb, right or wrong....lol
I didn't have gauges before I put my cooler on so I can't tell you what "stock" temps should be. 170 without a cooler doesn't sound out of the realm of normal.
I think your FPR has already been shimmed, 35psi is normal, if you're sure it hasent been done, you may have a california motor, check to see what color your sticker is on the passenger side valve cover, if it's green, you have a california truck which comes with the FPR mod from the factory, you also will have larger injectors, which is a good thing!
BEECHBM69 well, thanks again, and yes, maybe is normal without a cooler, (is my next step: tru-cool 4590 or 4739).
And ben97, no my truck does not have a California motor, and I really dont know if the FPR has already been shimmed, but I have heard here that the optimum pressure is about 70-75 psi and also I you have 60-70 psi you dont need it. but Im going to do it and check the pressure and lets see.
