1998 Explorer MAF sensor
My 1998 Explorer 4.0 has 91,000 miles on it. The MAF off and on makes a loud whinning noise. If I stop while it is making noise, you can put your hand on it and feel it virbrating. Engine will run rough or sometimes die. MAF has been replaced twice, new air filter and oxgyen sensors replaced withing last year. No codes. Any ideas???

I've found it's actually the IAC that causes the whine, it just reverberates down the tube to the MAF. Try cleaning the IAC before replacing the MAF. I think there's a "sticky" on it at the beginning of this forum.
