This was posted in the 80-86 forum but I was told to try here because I have an EFI 302.
Well I think its time for motor mods on my 302 EFI. I think im going to sell the nitrous due to lack of knowledge about it and not wanting to blow my motor. Soooo I want some other go fast goodies. What would be recommend for a 302 EFI?
I would love a big cam but im not 100% sure im comfortable tearing into my motor. I have torn apart a few carb v8 motors and plenty of 4 wheeler and dirtbike motors but never an EFI.
What should I look into for some more power?
Im thinking longtube headers.. Any opinions on brands? ect..
What would be a nice cam if I do look more into tearing apart my motor? I love rough idles and dont care what rpms range. Would I need to upgrade the lifters, rockers or anything else?
look into some 1.7 rockers.. dont need to tare in the moter
Is there a certent brand I should look into with the 1.7 rockers? I would have to take the upper intake off to change them out wouldnt I? Due to the upper intake going over the driver side valve cover.
i know a few peaple that used... the brand : crane cams and where pretty happy with it
jep you will have to take the upper intake out..its not a hard job tough
All right thanks
What is the difference in the stock rockers and 1.7 rockers?
Ill go ahead and get new valve covers too while the intake is off.
Any other mods I should look into? Are the upper intakes restrictive or the lower on the 5.0s?
it will open the valve more and longer.. like a cam but with less lift..
the upper intake is good enough untill 300+ hp.. get some headers.. and a free flowing exhuast.. and that rockers installed and you will notice a BIG difference
dont forget to measure the new valve covers if they fit under the intake ..or you will have to use intake spacers

Ok thanks I guess ill go with some longtube headers, 1.7 rockers, and nice valve covers for now.
ohh yeah almost forgot.. get copper gaskets for your headers.. the gaskets they come with or any other gasket will leak in a period of less then a year
