Maybe this will do it...
It was good one...so much so that I had to DVR the episode so I can watch it again!
Also, how is the weather in Santa Cruz. I learned to surf at Cowell Beach. I lived in Sunnyvale for 44 years. Moved there when I was 10 years old. Been livin in AZ now for almost 7 years. I really miss the ocean. Yeah, do the math, I'm an old fart.
Oh well, I've got about 14 days to burn before my anniversary date of April 6th and I receive another 15 days of vacation. As you can tell, I'm not very good at taking days off. Matter of fact, we just finished dinner with one of my daughter's who just came in from college for spring break...and since I shut my work computer down a couple of hours ago, I'm wondering around the house not knowing what to do
...it's not the weekend yet, but I'm on "vacation"...and I installed all my newest mod's last weekend.
Oh well, back to my brothren (and sistren -- didn't want to leave you out Lisa) on the forum.
Its hard to say. Ive noticed that it takes less throttle to move now which is a plus. I also havnt seen a SES light. Knock on wood. But it still likes to smoke when I start it, especially in the morning. I think the injector tick has gotten quieter also, but I could just be blocking it out. I've only driven it about 50 miles or so since the new injector. I understand that it is possible that when I had the bad injector oil could have been leaking back into my fuel tank. My friend explained it to me somthing to do with the o-rings. That would explain smoke, i guess. It is still inconsistant in how it runs. One minute it will be great with no miss and the next it will be shakey again. I ran it low on fuel today in hopes that it would help clean out my tank. When i put fuel in today I used B5. I've read on here that bio can help clean things out also. I'm not a big Bio fan but I dont mind 5%, especially since it saves me about 10 cents a gallon.
As for Santa Cruz...
I am born and raised here and it only goes down hill. I'm sure you remember it as a small surfer town. But that has changed. The UC allows 1000-2000 new students a year and the town is over ran with them. The weather is great but the more and more i look around the more I miss the SC i was raised in. And im sure the one you knew. Well enough about me!Everyone- Please let me know what you think about my trucks symptoms!!! It is driving me crazy.
I need to know if i need to get out the stelletoes or not...lol
I have experienced the symptoms you described due to 3 different reasons:
1. Running out of fuel...the closer it got to "empty" the noisier the injectors got.
2. Plugged filter... just this last weekend I did the In-take Mod, installing the new small inline filter...which within 10 minutes of running clogged with glycerin from the bio I was running...started to act and sound (injector noise from air) like it was running out of fuel...noisy injectors and erratic idle from 700-1100 rpms.
3. Air leak in fuel line...made the injectors noisy and erratic idle.
I hope this helps.
Thanks for the update on Santa Cruz. Is the Boardwalk getting run down or being taken care of and upgraded. I used to have a hell of a lot of fun there. Crabbing of the peir was always good until the seal population exploded and they would never leave your net alone long enough for a crab to get into it. Oh! the good old days. UCSC used to be strictly a graduate school but now I think it is also undergrad as well. Explains the higher student population.
Take Care Nolan and keep us posted.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
Well as I explained earlier everything seemed to be getting better. Went out hung out with some friends, go to leave start thew truck and guess what...Hello SES light! Get out the bully dog to pull the codes and what do i get... 308= #8 injector drive circuit AND 603= KAM memory loss. How does any of this make sense. Ive posted before about the 603 code and alot of people told me it was not a big deal, and that it shouldnt cause the SES light to come on. But why is it always there... well not always I did see just the 308 code before i replaced the injector. The first time I saw the 603 was after my new cps... Excuse my frustration but I have no money and if I cant figure this out im S O L...
As always Thanks Everyone!!!
P.S Robin- The boardwalk is great and still a "star attraction" for tourists...

the 308 is #8 injector. you say you had your CPS changed, remeber on some trucks the new CPS makes them throw #8 codes. Call the dealer that did the CPS change for you and discuss it with him.
"From 12/7/98 When replacing a set of injectors, or the #8, be sure to check the #8 unit part number. In some engines the #8 is a different injector - a special 'Long Lead Anti-Cackle' Injector per Ford TSB's. (See XC3Z 9E527-AARM in these cases.) #1 - #7 injectors are always standard injectors. When the injectors are replaced, both fuel and oil leak into the combustion chamber. If these fluids are not evacuated, the engine could bend a rod (hydraulic lock) as it tries to compress fluid in the combustion chamber.. New - w/ Core Charge"
One site I saw said Exc. California My truck is a ca. truck any ideas???
EDIT:Correction!!! That was for an early 99 that it said Exc. Ca.
