Trouble Pulling Codes
Yes I know they stopped making the 7.3 for US consumption in late 2002 early 2003 - but I assure you they kept exporting them with the 7.3 up to 2006 in our RH drive versions downunder.
Anyway - I had problems installing the software at first.
I kept getting a message with
Feature Transfer Error.
Feature : vehicle profiles.
Compnent
File
Error: Catastrophic failure.
It did this 3 times before I installed it in advanced mode without that particular file. I understand that fileis only for driving tests fault reporting?
So - i connected to the USB and data transfer port in the vehicle,
It seemed to talk to the vehicle computer OK.
I tried setting various Ford Model details starting with the correct info 2004 PSD 7.3, and I get no data - it says no codes set yet the yellow engine light in on and running on maybe 4 cylinders with lots of white smoke, no power and unburnt diesel smell.
So I tried 2002 Ford PSD 7.3 thinking it would be the same as mine in US format - but no go.
I get a message saying the vehicle is too heavey to be OBD11 compliant and it requires someother type of software or connnectopr cable maybe to be able to detecdt any sesors or codes, and to access codes thru the systems menu.
When you go to systems menu - there is only evaporative air leak detection.
Any of the other systems like o@ sensors etc it says no data.
Do I need some kind of extra software to get auto enginuity to talk to the F 250 7.3 psd computer?, since it is apparently NOT OBDS11 compliant?
I bought this software and had it shipped downunder because someoneon this bioard recommended it for pulling codes.
I did try clearing allcodes and re setting the yellow engine check light - but as soon as you start her up again - the same symptoms and yellow check engine soon light come back on and the same symptoms...4 cylinders / smoke etc.
Locall F Trckplace in nearesr capital city Perth on phone said blocked exhaust back pressure sensor, located on valley behind turbo...(I thought they were at front near the serpentine belt tensioner.
I'm 1000 miles from the nearest ford dealership, Iam without the truck already 3 weeks- it is at the diesel fittersfor repair IF we can pull the codes to know what is wrong?
Can anyone please help out with what more I need to do to get this program to talk to the laptop and onboard computer?
I amlost now having followed every lead in the book- i'm sitting in the sun it is over 100 degrees f and I'm about rady to sell the computer F truck and go buy a Toyota.
Many thanks in advance.
for the guy's (gal's) that didnt know..the new 6.0 is out....you will need to re activate as well when you down load it...
Frankly this seems crazy - I have to be hooked up to my truck to do all this?
I bought the software because it said Ford PSD compatiible.
Now I find out it is NOT compatioble as supplied - sorry but to me thats false advertising.
When I am half a world away and 12 hours time difference - 3 weeks and $1000 out of pocket, 1000 miles from a Ford dealer - sitting in the sun with a car and patop at over 100f - the last thing I want to hear is the company will send me a reply email during business hours with some code to activate software I've already purchased.
Its a 200 mile round tripby boat and car to get to my vehicle - after a 3 week wait fir the software - ive been there today - will have to go there again tomorrow - hook it up - email them, wait at LEAST 24 or more hours because of the time difference, get the activation code - then do the whole trip back there agin to hook it up, and pull the codes.
I estimate my losses from this stufffing around with travel and accoms at a couple grand minimum- I am cinsidering invoicing auto ingenuity - this simply isn't good enough.
I paid good $ for the product and expect it to work as advertised.
time is $ and this program so far is costing me a small fortune - maybe these companys would re think such a stupid setup, if a few more people start sending invoices for lost time and travel, particularly where such invoices = more than the software cost.
It should not take weeks to moths and multiple trips before you can pull a code on your truck.
The sooner Ford goes broke and stops foisting this garbage product on an unsuspecting world the better.
The vehicle is under Ford extended care premim warranty - who do I bill for my travel and accoms / meals etc while waiting for their activation code email?
Man right now I'd like to fly to America and punch someone at Auto ingenuity in the nose, then swing by Ford and do likewise to someone there.
Really not happy Jan....
Frankly as soon as this trucks fixed it goes up for sale and I'm off to the Toyota people for a new twin 4.2 liter turbodiesel Lnadcruiser 4wd - same pulling power as the 7.3 F truck (what does that say about underpowered) and at least they have a deal;ership HERE not 1000 miles away.
My vehicle is used for business and I will go broke if I stick with this sort of run around.
No wonder Fordis going broke, for my 2c it can't happen soon enough.
Thanks again fior the help - I emailed Auto enginuity over 12 hours ago about the software install malfunction, this si the latest laptop with dual core processor and 2 gigs ram etc - running windows vista - and the program has catastrophic failure messages - when new outta the box?
I didn't see any activation or product code with the program disc etc....and I looked in the booklet and the getting started brochure, I followed every step as shown...
Theprogram simply isn't doing the simplest tasks...it won't even install properly.
No reply from the company but then it's Monday here so Sun night where you are so why would they reply - another work day lost.
Frankly this really really sucks.
If i were a litageous sort (which we Aussies are not) then about now 'd be ringing my solicitpr looking for a law suit to recover costs and inconvenience / lost business.
I use this truck to haul my nboat out ahead of cyclones - if it isn;t working for months at a time and someone dies as a result - there will be a lawsuit.
Man i am angry right now.
Effectively - the replys above say that after 3 weeks waitinng - a visit to the truck today and another tomorrow - because ofr this email activation thing - i won't be able to pull codes tomorrow either.
I guess I'll just hang saround town here all week waiting for AE to decide to reply to my emails and hoping for an activation code.
Not like I have any work to do!
Thanks for the recommendation to buy this scum sucking software guys - please don't recommend it to anyone else!
Hopefully my experience and comments will save someone else from making the same mistake and giving these people money for something that is defective at the outset.
Cheers.
What sort of a half bakedproduct is this software and those who sell/ support it?
Another day wasted - connected tothe vehicle in the stinkking hot sun, another day spent sending emails to support@autoenginuity, and submitting unique ID codes etc to their server.
I got a response to yesterdays email....with no code number supplied, go figure!
I treid all the suggestions made here, and now almost a MONTH after buying this software - countless days travelling the remote countryside messing with laptops and my truck i am no closer to pulling any codes.
All this because AE foks can't do something as simple as supply software that actually WORKS.
Yes, that vehicles is not OBDII. It never will be. That warning is telling you that certain screens are not available on this vehicle because the truck has no support for it. That's normal. If you grab the factory scantool this support is absent too. That warning is trying to prevent technical support calls--that's all. Your truck has no IM States or O2 sensors so that warning is trying to tell you there is no support for these functions.
Since your truck is a 7.3L, select the 03 model year. That's the last year those were produced. It may have sold in 04 but Ford doesn't list any 7.3L in the 04 model year. Connect to the Enhanced Powertrain and select All. If you already are doing this then clearing will be performed the same way. If you hit Clear, and the codes come back, then the issue you are working on is not resolved and the ECM still sees it. Lean in on the truck next time and see if the light blinks on and comes back on. If it does, then you sent successfully to the truck. Then the issue can't be resolved by just clearing the code--it needs a repair.
I hope that helps.
Support
I even tried installing their stupid software onmy diesel fitters laptop - the same fatal transfer error for vehicle modes message - s guess what - it ain't my disc drive not working - it is a faulty disc from AE.
I've emailed now maybe a dozen times- I've submitted maybe a dozen tiimes to their web page/ server.
No code to unlock the software that will read my trucks codes.
Quite simply this company are a fraud - and not to be trusted.
Please please - NO ONE make my mistake and send them $ - they are worse than HOPELESS!
You could die of old age waiting for these imbeciles to supply you with software of any shape or form that might work.
You certainly arent going to b abe to tell what is wrong with your truck - because these people arent capable of answering a simple emauil and supplying a product of merchantible quality.
I will be contacting my credit card company today asking for a charge back on faulty product.
Justwant to warn ANY otherpotential purchaser NOT to waste their $ giving them to this company - they simply do NOT deserve it.
They have NO customer focus or service period.
Spend your $ on one of Jody Tiptons Chips programs etc where you get the improved performance - and you can pull codes if you need too.
You'll get more info and useage that you will out of AE software.
To those recommending the product on this web forum - please re consider - you are passing out BAd advice.
I still need to fix my truck, anyone know how I can pull codes wthout AE software please?
Cheers

I've been on email most of the night after another fruitless trip to the truck to email the hardware code, in more 100+ degree heat today.
Turns out despite the fact their literature says the program supports F trucks it actually doesn't.
You have to purchase extra software codes to unlock the portion of the program that reads your F truck.
Their literature and web page say this is free with the software purchase for the first 12 months - but not so - they won't supply the codes, unless you pay another $149, on top of the $249 you already paid for the software that won't even load oot of the box due to catstrophic failure errors.
Next - after you pay, they still haven't sent the promised code within the hour as they claimed they would.
The owner of the company is rude, childish to deal with - won't admit his software is faulty and that his manner of providing the necessary codes very drawn out & inconvenient and thr false advertising actually a form of blackmail to extort more $ from unsuspecting purchasers.
Quit frankly he and his company do not deserve the support of members of this board IMHO.
He may think its funny or humorous to keep people a half a world away hanging around in a strage town in a remote area for days on end while he plays his childish power games - I don't.
Example - this is the oil & gas capital of Australia, house rent $2000/week, a motel room $350/night, square of lawn at the caravan park to pitch a tent $600 a week.
I am not laughing at the cost to wait here while this peanut gets his software to work.
Please don't recommend this product to anyone.
Simply it sucks, and the support is abysmal at best is the description -when I asked for the owners contact details I got abusive curt responses.
Hardly the way to endear your self to customers or get good reviews on the internet for your product.
Caveat Emptor is my advice for anyone considering Auto Enginuity software , there must be a better company out there with a better product.
This one simply doesn't work & customer support is worse than abysmal and the owner doesnt care, avoid at all costs is my advice.
4 weeks down and no codes pulled.
Thanks Auto enginuity - I wouldn't recommend you to my worst enemy.
Cheers

The whole expeerience left a bad taste.
As Was suspected it appears a UVC harness prolem - low signal on cyl 4 and multiple injector failures Bank 2.
Sounds like UVCH problem, probably another month or two wait for the parts from USA now.
Some one do me a favor and shoot the Ford horse, it is dead already it just don't know when to lay down is all.
Cheers
