Unhappy Oil Leak

I have recieved a lot of good information for the site and now have a bit of a problem myself. I ahve a 97 f 350 and when i came back from the store this morning i notice a nice pubble of oil beneath the truck so went to inspect and notice that it was coming from the EBPV area and was wondering if anybody had the same problem or happen to have an idea of what it might be. thanks

i did, the previos owner unhooked the rod off me ebpv and with out the rod on it it leaked oil, i found this after i pulled the turbo to do the o rings in the pedestal. i put it back on and it stopped leaking, i'm not sure if there is an o ring or gasket that keeps it from leaking

is yours still plugged in? if so unplug is, usually they only leak when the rod opens and closes, it will buy you lots of time till you decide if you want to reseal or not

The rod that opens the EBPV has a piston with seal on it in the pedastal. I heard that replacing the seal will not work in most situations because the aluminum bore wears out. It is a real big PITA removing the turbo to get to the pedastal so you might want to gut the EBPV and remove the piston and rod and plug the hole the rod came out of.

the rod has to have tension on it or it leaks oil, without being hooked to the butterfly it flops down and leaves a gap around it for oil to leak out, even with the ebpv unhooked, you will have to pull the turbo and pull the rod and plug the hole. but you can try hooking a piece of wire or vicegrips to it to put pressure on it, but it has to be straight

Might be a easy way out. If you can get to it there is a snap ring you need to remove on the pedestal to remove the piston. Its on the pedastel opposite where the rod comes out. After you remove the snap ring tap on the piston rod to remove the cap. Remove the piston, replace cap and tap a plug in the hole where the rod came out. As far as I know this has not been done before so I am not sure if it will work because things are pretty tight around the turbo. Good luck and let us know how things work out.

I would remove the turbo and pedestal and cut the whole actuator right off then weld up the holes left. It will look like this when you done. Except hopefully you welds will look better than those (PO wasn't much of a welder!)
