First of all, welcome to FTE. There are many great folks here to help you through many issues.

If you have not seen it, there is a search feature which is excellent. Look above, mouse over Forums then select Search. You can even search Bronco and F-150 at the same time by holding down Ctrl and clicking them.

Have you pulled codes? The computer does an excellent job of diagnosing. I prefer my $30 black and yellow digital code reader but you can see how to pull codes with a paper clip at http://fordfuelinjection.com/ That website, a Haynes manual and this forum have helped me immensly.

After pulling codes and posting them here, someone will be around to help.

You changed the transmission fluid. Was it a flush or was the pan dropped and filter replaced? If dropped, was the torque conveter drained also and about 16 quarts added? If flushed, drop the pan, replace the filter, be sure to pull the old filter gasket if it does not come out with the filter. Drain the TC. I did that a couple of weeks ago and it really improved shifting, especially OD to 3. Read the dipstick for the correct ATF, check it according to the dipstick. On mine, reading on the crosshatching is an overfill when warm, running and in Park. That transmission is a good one, 95 has the upgraded version but it is sensitive to fluid level and very expensive to replace.

If you have the stock gearing, the 35" tires may contribute to lugging the engine and transmission slippage.

Is your speedometer accurate? If not, recalibration with a jumper wire will make the transmission much happier with shift points better.

This should give you plenty to chew on for starters. I am no expert by any means, just improving with the help of this community.

When you pull codes post them here and some code experts will help.

That is good that you dropped the pan. I found a lot of goo around the magnet in my pan and thought the filter must have been full of it also. A flush would not have removed the goo. I also pulled the rubber plug under the bell housing, turned the engine untill tje torque converter plug was visible and drained it also to replace more of the fluid.

find out what gears you have. either the front or rear diff will have a tag on it with some numbers and letters. this will dictate what ratio you have.

if it is stock and your running those larger tires the transmission and motor both are working double duty and is causing tremendous amounts of wear. I would imagine that the tranny isnt far off from needing a rebuild.

well from what the tag says you have 3.55 gears. Now next question what rpm is the truck running at when going 65mph? did you install the 35's or did the previous owner and if it was the previous owner did he/she ever mention the gears being swapped out for some taller gears?

i beleive there is a way to find out by jacking up a tire and counting how many revolutions it makes but i am not sure. it would help if you new what rpm you are driving at.

for instance i have 4.88's and 35's with the e4od tranny and at 65mph i am at 2200rpms
