The key that I got with my 1996 f150 is not a good one it takes about ten minutes to unlock the doors and about two minutes to turn the ignition switch.
I called the local dealerships and they do not have the key codes for anything over 10 years old. I emailed ford customer service and they were not able to help either. I know that I can go to a lock smith but the keys that I have had made in the past did not work as well as the factory key.
Anyone know another source to get a key code for a old truck with the VIN # or ????
Thanks
Only the original selling dealer will have the factory key code, it'll be in the sales folder which I believe they are required to keep dang near forever. Ford customer service (800-392-ford) might be able to give you the original dealers name if the dealer is still open.
Only other option I can think of is a locksmith. Good luck.
