Hi, one of our key fobs for our F150 has been lost along with an original master key. I know I have to get the immobilizer reprogramed, but the key is a separate issue. What I need to know is how do I reprogram the key fob to work on a different code?
Since my remaining key fob is getting very worn out, I'd like to purchase 2 new key fob and reprogram both to activate and deactivate the vehicle's locking mechanism. I then want to test the locks with the old key fob, which at that point should not work, because the code has been changed. The only issue is I can't find any documentation on doing that and the dealer said that reprogramming the immobilizer will not have any affect on the key fobs. So, how do I do what I want to do?
Go to someplace like Amazon. Tons of places that sell those remotes and they come with the program instructions. When you put the vehicle in program mode for the remotes, only the key fobs you enter will work. The lost one and the current old one will not work unless you program them back in. On the key issue....most good locksmiths carry transponder keys and can program it to the vehicle. The lost key will be rolled out....like the lost fob...when they do that. Then you should be secure from the old key and fob.
Sometimes you just stick your key in and turn the key ON/OFF 8 times fast (within 10 seconds). You then hear a beep from the locks and then you hit the key fob and it works...
I ordered once on 1 F150 and it worked perfectly....But I ordered it on another F150 a few weeks ago and I haven't figured out how to reprogram it...But I only tried once or twice and gave up
Toward the end of the video, the gentleman explains that the old remote will not function if it is not re-porgammed again with all the new ones. - Thats exactly what I needed to do.
