When I had my old computer it came with office 2000. The OS was windows 98SE. I had since baught a new computer and my current OS is XP. I was told by my friend that he is running win98 based office software on his XP computer. So I dug out the old disks and I realize I dont have the box that came in.
Is there a way to get product keys so I can install my disks?
I dont want to ask about anything shady on these boards to put FTE is a bad spot but any help is appreciated.
There are a couple of old threads about contacting MS about replacement product keys for people that have had a computer crash and rebuilt it and would appear as a different computer to MS updates.
Office 98? I dont know if they will support that any more. However, to avoid potentially getting banned i will offer this advice: Google is a fantastic tool for research.
Thanks Lazy K and thanks Ken. I downloaded the Open Office package. Perfect. It even opens excel documents and you can work in them. I just have the free microsoft excel viewer. I have been working on a stuff for work (were I have excel but the company does not want to lend out thier software) at home and some colleagues have been sending be documents in excel.....I could see them but not work within them.
Thanks guys. It was all a great help. Wait to I tell the General Manager at work about this. He is gonna wet himself.
I'm another Open Office fan. The only thing that I don't like is that I can not find the right formula to make a spreadsheet work, that I was working on last year. Maybe just the number? of the program 1.1.4. I wanted to change loan payments based on a number of factors, but they just did not have the formula that I needed. And yes I was to lazy to wright my own, so I just used a loan calc. for the changes that I needed.
