Today I noticed a shudder/vibration (can feel it in the steering wheel and the whole truck) whenever I put the truck (2000 F350 Xcab - see sig.) in 4wd. I have converted the ESOF to manual hubs (Warn) several years ago - no problems.
There is no vibration/shudder when in 2wd with the hubs turned in. No vibration when in 4wd and the hubs are turned out. It's only there when in 4wd *and* the hubs are turned in.
Any suggestions?
My immediate thoughts are front u-joint or transfer case. I didn't feel like crawling under the truck tonight in the dark in 4 inches of snow to check it out.
The truck just turned 129k. I usually turn the hubs in about late November and turn them back out in mid march and just use the dash switch to get 4wd as needed - which is at least every day for the 1/2 mile of driveway.
