94 Explorer Shudder

I have a '94 XLT that has a vibration that occurs at low speeds (from a stop). It is felt from the middle of the vehicle. It feels like the transfer case is engaged (but the t-case is in 2WD with hubs unlocked. Ive had it up on a rack and the u-joints are OK, wheel bearings are OK and nothing is out of place. It has 75,000 miles. Has anyone had this experience? Thanks for any info.

Does it have aluminum rims ? Is it possible one of the rims may be damaged ? How many miles on the tires ? It sounds like either a tire or rim problem .

Does this occur only on a turn from a stop? If it does, it could be the limited slip rings in the differential. Usually an addative in the rear end will stop the noise.

Check the output flange nut on the transfer case. Remove the front driveshaft bolts and check that the flange nut is tight, mine came loose @ approx. 75,000 miles.
