Talking Intercoolers

Anyone have any pref's on Intercoolers? I was looking at the Banks Technicooler setup. Is there anything Donor? Newer S/D intercoolers? I've got access to a welder, and exhaust pipe so mounting, and running the tubing isn't a problem.

I do know the 6.0 intercooler is a bit larger. I guess that would explain the turbo lag on the 6.0's, but they run good out of the box. So I'll hunt down an intercooler for a 6.0, and mount everything. Thanks coon

I'll sell you my 7.3 intercooler.

If you find me a good deal on one from a 6.0 first

My only regret is that I didn't get a 6.0 cooler. That will be coming.

Im a fan of the Banks Techni-cooler kit for the OBS trucks. The twin ram intake and powder coated CAC tubes really looks nice and is totally functional.

I also have a couple pics in my gallery. Ditto on the 6.0 cooler. Not a lot bigger but enough to make a difference.

Do you have any testing to show that banks twin ram is any better than the early 99 setup or gts setup that has been used?

I have not seen any numbers but I would agree with Steve just by looking at the smoothness of flow of the pipe. The difference in performance would be negligiable in a normal truck but every bit helps. Here is a pic of my one and only Banks product on my truck. The price was right!

I dont have any dyno proof but i will say that the twin ram setup does a very effective job of seperating the hot air of the compressor side from the cold air on the intake side. Plus like Tim said, the smooth mandrel bends help to reduce air flow drag.

i have virtually no lag on my truck with the 6.0 cooler. if you swap the map hose from the cold side to the hot side of the turbo its a night and day difference, when i mash the pedal the truck goes.....just ask jethro
