well i had some daylight hours today so i got a start on my '83... got the carb off for a rebuild. figure i can save a few bucks and rebuild this one instead of buying a holley or something.
can anyone decipher the tag from the carb??
here it is, L 4 82, VAE 3, E3UE DA...
i'd like to know if its a 2100, or 2150 motocraft...
hey maybe you could answer this queston easily, after reading that article, is seems that rebuilding this carb would be way better off than buying a holley or eddie...so...is my air gap intake a paperweight now?? any way i can mount the 2150 on the performer intake? i didn't look at the holes...
You should be able to get the adapter plate anywhere they sell Edelbrock products which is just about everywhere!
Now to be worth it is the next question. It all depends on what your planning on doing to your engine. The 2150 works pretty darn good for what it is. For example if you do put a bigger camshaft in, the 2 barrel will still work up to a point. It'll pretty much be just a rev limiter as it can't sustain the fuel requirements for higher RPM. The 2150 will be a good setup to cut your teeth on and if further modifications/needs require, the 4 barrel will just be a bolt on away.
do you have the other hubcaps for the back lol... I have a set of those... for $20
or a set of 5, 8spoke steel rims, with 4 black center caps (need good sanding and paint)
this style --> http://nevcustom.com/images/12x4Steel.jpg (they dont have the button things to attach the center caps (punched out), I was asking $75 for all 5 rims and 4 caps,....
thanks dustin. well for now i'll just stick with the 2bbl 2150, and i see i can get the adapter plate easy enough so i think i will put the intake on there. i had planned on a cam, but i've toned down my thoughts for now. i'm going budget and going to get her running sweet and stock before playing too much. that being said, any noticeable difference between the stock intake and the performer i have??
For the differences in the intakes, I can't answer that. I don't have much info about the carbed stuff. I've put more interest in the EFI parts so I guess you will have to find out yourself.
that i will do. thanks for the direction to that conversion plate though. i found it at Jegs, runs about 49.99... i'll see my parts guys tomorrow to order the rebuild kit for the carb and ask if they can get that plate...
I must be missing something. Whats the reason you are sticking with a 2 barrel over a 4 barrel?
I kinda assumed you were doing the engine up abit just from some of your other posts, and if so, a 4 barrel would be the way to go over a 2 barrel anyday!
Im not saying to go get the biggest 4 barrel in the world either!
