harmonic balancer removal

hey ya'll...I'm having a problem removing the harmonic balancer on my 351M. I rented the tool from work but I cannot get that sucker to slide off.

Any ideas???

1978 F-150 flareside. Primitive by todays standards but she was a jaw dropper back then. :-staun

OK Did you remove the bolt that holds it in place.

What I do is remove the bolt take the washer off reinstall just the bolt then put the wheel puller on and hit it with an impact wench off it comes ...

Well...after much swearing and wrenches flying the harmonic balancer finally gave in and BROKE! One of the bolts used to hold it to the balancer broke off inside so now I only have 3 bolts to hold the pulleys on.

I said screw it and put the water pump back on and put it all back together. I think I'll just keep adding oil and replacing the track arm bushings every month. Whadda think......

harmonic balancer removal

i had the same problem 1 time. make sure u take the pullies off, then the bolt and washer. i forgot the washer and broke the balancer trying to pry it off. hope that helps!
