More problem

96 f350 Dieset 7.3 turbo, 4x4 5 speed, the aluminum 4x4 shifter broke off where it bolts up to that steel plate on the tranny, it is the 4 H 4 L 2H shifter, anyone know where I can get one? I am trying to find one in line, but nothng is coming on, what would be nice is a parts diagram ofthe 4x4 shifter. assy

Salvage yards or Ford for a new one (ouch!!)

Just great! it is a terrible design, using cast aluminum with a steel bolt/pin on that pivot poing and it oxidized and froze. ok what is it called. ?

Yep it is a bad design if it doesn't get used everynow and then. I have no idea what its called other than T-case shift mechanism.

Take a look at this thread, my bronco had the same problem. My solution trade truck in on my '96 F250.

yup mine is the one in the middle,, I called local junk yards, all they have are 150's

Gee I would like to find out, becauuse those junk yards hae cross referance charts, and he said it was different??? now on that bronco thread. someone said 90 bucks. was that a new ome I wonder? and how do you take apart that spring part? that worked fine, I guess I didn't push down hard enough to disengage out of 4 lo

Either that or do like gustang818 did and have it welded at a local welding shop.

take your old one with you and eyeball it to the f-150 piece, i cant remember if they are the same or not but if you have the old one in hand it should be easy to tell. i know the t-cases are smaller but the lever might be the same

The silver lining is that you can still use the truck, just have to crawl under to switch 2wd to 4wd.

Actually I do not have to crawl under, I have the shifter all out, I just reach through the hole on the floor and pull or push the rod!

Mine also siezed up and then snapped when I tried to break it free,,,,,,the new shifter from Ford was 170 dollars,,,,,,,,not a bad price considering what it was and what my dealer usally charges for parts.........
