Thanks for the help. Yes I jumped to another subject. Thought that I would also change her oil. She was at NAPA to get 36mm socket and I told her to get filter and oil. I wanted to make sure you use 15w-40, as I do in my 7.3. She has an 2006 F-350 4x4. I did notice when I cleaned her motor up her air filter container doesn't seem to go together real well. It is sucking air at the joint directly past the filter. She is still under warranty so she plans to have the stealership look at it. I really appreciate all the help. She is really happy she saved a couple bucks, and that her motor looks brand new.

Good Luck.....

Do not use the Napa oil filter! Use only Racor made filters, Motorcraft or Fram CH9549. Napa's are will fit and have been associated with problems on this site.

Could not agree with you more...

Here is a link explaining the potential issues 69cj is talking about with the NAPA/Wix filter...

I just drained the HFCM and changed oil today. I used Rotella 5W-40 synthetic and Motorcraft filter. If you have a torque wrench it would be best to use it to tighten the oil filter cap. The spec is 25 Newton meters or 18 lb-ft.

I have the knurled HFCM drain plug, let me tell you it was a pain to get out. I think it's because of the salt they use on the roads here, there was a lot of white corrosion looking stuff on the brass. I ended up having to use a pipe wrench on the knurl to get it out it was in so tight. Once I drained the unit I slathered the plug up with some synthetic grease, hope that keeps it from getting munged up again.

Has anyone else had a problem with corrosion on the HFCM drain plug?
