Hey, I know you guys are the expertsso I was wondering what kind of mpg I could get out of a F150 with the inline-6. I know that its pretty good and I know that the reliability on this motor is great, but I would like to know how long this motor should last, and about what weight I could pull. I would try to run 3.73 gears or so...Thanks.
There is more than a ton of BS on this Forum about mpg, longevity, etc. Just gotta do your reading. There is a huge thread at the bottom of this page on mpg.
I have a 1988 with 4.9, AOD, 3.55, short bed, and casual driving I get 16-17 MPG. On the highway I get around 20 MPG. I only have 91,000 miles on it but I have heard many getting far over 300,000 without any problems.
i have a 85 f150 300, stick 3speed w/t 4th OD, 3.50w/t 31" BFG, 2wd, turboed. when i can keep my foot out of the pedel i get about 17HW and 14-15city thats shifting at about 2k
I have a question for everyone while the subject is up, but why would having 4wd ever have anything to do with gas mileage unless you're using it? I mean, with the hubs free and the transfer case in 2H, there should be no extra drag on the engine whatsoever and maybe just some extra weight. But I mean, that's no different than adding on AC, power windows, leather, carpet, etc......
