lift help

i would like to put a 6" suspension lift on a 75 250
for the back i can just put 6" blocks, and the front drops the shackles down etc. this is just a bogger truck.
my question is, do i have to lengethen driveshafts? if so, is there any ways around buying a whole new drive shaft?

Might be pushing it, but since you wont have much travel/droop they might be ok. Done anything with the truck yet? Be sure to get some pics of how this all works out. But on a serious note, some springs and appropriate parts arent expensive for these trucks. Even for a bogger truck, some flex is still nice, and that way you have all the bracketry of the lowered mounts for such small lift.

do a sky manufacturing shackle flip and add a leaf before you put a 6inch block on there!
don't these trucks have a 4inch block stock? That'd be 10inches of block! not a good idea

man, I should get paid for saying sky manufacturing so much

Again, don't stack blocks and by all means don't put a 6" block, are you nutz?

I beams cut to size and leftover light truss from the last local concert seem to work fine for me.

DOM and suspension kits are a waste of money. Buy 2- 3" body lifts for $75 each and be done with it. You wont be sorry.

Sarcasm much? I'm just trying to get ideas on a PROPER kit that'll work well together, man. I'm new to this, and don't like rushing into anything, and scabbing it together.

Guys forget that there are new guys and sometimes come accross a little harsh. Everyone started off here at one point or another.
There are pre-manufactured kits that are designed for these trucks to accomodate only 37, or 38 inch tires, although these kits are sort of using a rather old style spring, and can ride a little rough.
I am guessing skyjacker probably makes the best kit, and is probably the most common.
While most guys will never admit that the kit they bought was not the bese out there, and you will hear "I do not care how it rides because it is an old truck, not a caddy", or "it rides so rough now, it does not really matter if it gets a little worse." Stuff like that is common.
There are plenty of options out here for lifting these old trucks. Just so happens that 99-04 SD front springs work fairly well in the 73-70 trucks, and only requires a little work to make them work.
I happen to run 6" front springs in one truck, and 8" front springs in another (74, and 75 trucks) Oddly enough the truck with the 6" springs has 44" tires under it, but that is totally a different story.
Anyway, the SD front springs seem to be the hot ticket for the older iron, and then there is always the shackle flip out back using the stock spring, and eliminating the block. This does free up a fair amount of travel, and still keeps a decent ride.
Another option is to just replace the entire rear leaf with a longer more progressive unit like a chevy 64 inch unit. Big travel and great ride with longer springs.
Well hopefully this helps with a little more food for thought.

If it's just a bogger, those blocks are really gonna let the springs wrap and you'll end up breaking stuff. Also, simple 1" square tubing between the frame and tranny crossmember will help driveline angles, especially on a shortbed.

if you only drop the rear of the tranny, it won't help anything but your rear driveline angle, but it will hurt your front.
