Im think of buying some ground hawgs this year.i only have run supwer swampers tsl but wonderin if any of you run the ground hawgs and how you like them?I HEAR SOME think I like and dont like about them.1)there not true to size~dont like that at all and (2) there hard as a rock and wont turn into slicks to fast~ i like that there hard.anyway if you got the ground hawgs on your truck let me know how you like them...I like the name they give them ground hawgs sounds kinda kewl but do they hold up to there name?
I like them there good tires but there an inch shorter than what they really are.the 40s are really 39's.The 40" ground hawg is also a very wide tire 17/40-16.5LT .But if you like a wide tire that wears like iron go for it .I never hear anything bad about them.check the link im posting look under OD .od is the real height of the tire. http://www.intercotire.com/site95.php
my buddy had them in the 38.5 size on his old truck, worked real good he has em now on a couple other trucks too, decent mud tires, again theyre not bogger but theyre ok, and like everyone else said they wear like iron
o and theres no way they were a 38.5 in tire tho
Ground hawgs blow! in the mud....Your not using the middle of the tread for anything in mud, keep your swampers if you're going to be any amount of mudding....IMO

hm.... so if you dont use the middle tread in mud, let me guess, thornbirds rock in the mud because of the awesome side lugs right?
I ran a set of 44 inch Hawgs on a '78 f-250 I had, they did fair in mud, and seemed to wear quite well. They do seem a little old school considering whats on the market now, but if I were to run across a great deal on them I might by them again.
I myself like super swampers.I have run iroks radials ,tsl's,bfg's,and Dick Cepeks.I never ran hawgs i was told there not to good in mud so i never bought any and there to wide for me anyway..out of all the tires i have run over the years I like the iroks and the tsl's the best.but skiding on the street in the rain is not safe but thats what bald tires do skid in the rain.I dont see why ground hawgs would skid when there not bald though.its up to you what tire to buy but i like super swampers but thats just me..later
i've got gumbos, which is just a non-directional hawg (basically). my 44's r prolly older than me and my 40's are about 12 y/o and still tough on whatever they touch. the only thing i have heard about hawgs that i dont care for is they suck in reverse (duh, they're directional). but overall i think they're a pretty good tire, my .02
ive heard there great tires, ive heard lots of variation though on actual size some people have told me that the 38.5s are only 38" and some people have told me there a 36" tire, i wonder if since interco has taken them over that they have fixed the size problem.
Very true on the sizing issued, but thats been beaten to death. they're a few inches short. If you want a pretty decent mud tire, with ok streetability, and wear like iron then go for them.
