road trip

I recently bought a 96' psd 4x4 w/ 150,000 . everything is stock. It's my first diesel and I am taking it on a trip down in to mexico. About 3,000 miles round trip. any recomendations on what I should have checked out or what parts I might take with me just in case. thnx.

If you haven't already done so put a new fuel filter in and carry a spare in case you get some bad fuel down there. You should carry a spare CPS and a 10mm. socket in the glove box.

A couple of spare tires. Definatly a CPS, too cheap not to. Definatly a fuel filter or two. And I don't care what anyone says.........cash. I've been in a couple of scrapes down there and American money will get you out of alot of ...........things. Other than that, just make sure the truck is fully serviced and ready to go.

maby a spare serpentine belt, i always carry one under the seats just in case. i learned that lession halfway between barstow and prim nevada. before the day of cell phones, walked about 50 miles.
