alright, since my truck could REALLY use a set of ladder bars, and I don't have the cash right now to BUY a set, I'mma make a set.. two questions though, first, would a class II top link be strong enough? (my truck ain't makin' all that much HP) second, where could I find a bracket to pin the hymes sp? joint to? (that would then bolt/weld onto the frame and axle)
my plan was to cut two top links in half, then slide them into a 4 foot chunk of thick walled pipe and weld/bolt then onto the pipe.. I'm thinking it would work pretty good.. these would NOT be used for daily driving..
i had your same idea/problem back after i put my injectors in. so i started hunting around my shop looking for ways to keep the wrap under wraps (so to speak). i found an extra tractor link i had laying around as a spare for our kubota. i cut it in half and welded some extra DOM tubing i had left over from my roll cage build to extend the links to the desired length. then i used some 1" square tubing to add some reinforcement. the front portion is not bolted solidly to the frame. instead i used a tension shackle system (found on all of our trucks from the factory on the rear leaf packs) that will keep the axle from wrapping but at the same time will still allow axle articulation and movement. i did the same thing for my bronco which i have yet to have a problem with!
