I bought a center counsle thing at wal-mart for 2 dollars and some change, best money i've ever spent. The only bad part is i can't use my arm rest now, but its nicer to have a place to throw things
I'm a woodworker and made a ribbon mahogany console box w/ cup holders and a flip up lid on either side.
It is my arm rest.
I've got a bench seat and use the center belt to hold it in place.
Oh, and it's got slots for cassettes,..... remember those?

Hey, i don't even have a cassatte player in my 84, stock 2 **** am/fm
Go to a marine supply and check out some boat cup holders. I had a set in a Scout once that actually screwed into the dash and had a pivot so when the truck was tilted my beverages still hung straight up and down.
By the way, if you cut the bottom out of the holders on those bronco center consoles the black cup holder inserts from a boat will slide right in and make them deeper.
