Old Tired Rebel,
You are in luck!,
Just so happens that I have an 84 f150, that I am going to take a bunch of parts off of, which means we could work out a deal on the vin number/ clean and clear title, etc off of this truck. Someone else may have advice on how to make the rest happen.

Send me a pm. Is it 4x4? any information you can pass along. We are planning to move to Kansas Sometime in April. We will be there early April to meet our son at Ft.Riley when he gets in from Iraq.Got Pic's?
I also got windows with this truck, if you need. full doors, fenders, cab. seat etc. there is more, but I don't know what you need. you might have to pm me so that I don't miss if you need me to read something.
it is a two wheel drive short box. what I was thinking is you could get the vin numbers, and title and replace the ones in the truck you are interested in.
The person who is listed on the title is the one who needs to file for lost title. Otherwise, you have a hard time getting a title for it.
That really is the only "legal" way to get a title. Usually, when a vehicle doesn't have a title and the "titled owner" can't be found or don't know who it is, something is fishy. But, all you usually need is a title to a vehicle in which you are using a major part from such as body parts, engine, transmission, etc and get the vehicle inspected and then they will issue a "rebuilders title" with a new assigned VIN #. At least in Nebraska and Minnesota that's the way it is. However, that being said, it can be a PITA to do.
On an older vehicle you can apply for a title with only a bill of sale in Kansas, but I think the cut off is something like 50 years old. In other words if you have a bill of sale on a 51 ford you can apply for a title. I don't think new vehicles qualify under that rule. I used the older vehicle bill of sale to get a title on a 48 F5. I just got an off road title on it because it was not running and it would have had to be inspected to get a road title and was just too much trouble at that time. If I restored it I could have it inspected and then apply for a regular title.
